Resistance 3 beta starts August 4

Multiplayer-loving players who picked up SOCOM 4 were treated in April a cruel setback when a massive security breach caused Sony to take down the PlayStation Network during the launch week of the game and leave it for a month. Things are now looking for these players because they will be among the first to try the next big PS3-excluisve shooter when Resistance 3 multiplayer beta goes live next week.

Insomniac Games today announced that the multiplayer beta will go live on August 4 and will be open to all those who purchased specially marked copies of new SOCOM 4. The player pool will be open beta later in the month, as European PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access as of August 10, and international as well as members will be able to join as of August 23. Insomniac has not yet said how long the beta period will take place.

As for what is included in the beta, players can try two cards of the game and two of his five multiplayer modes. Players will be able to level their characters up to 20, upgrade weapons, customize loadouts, and unlock character skins.
